"Contaminated groundwater may pose environmental, health and safety hazards."

"In terms of the new National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998), it is an offence to pollute groundwater and the person or organisation responsible for the pollution,
can be held liable for remediation."

APPROACH:

Options for the remediation of contaminated groundwater are usually considered following an environmental risk based approach.

The preferred option will depend on the nature of the contamination, costs, time, clean-up goals, practicality and the need to induce some form of hydraulic control.

WHY REMEDIATE AND/OR MANAGE CONTAMINATED GROUNDWATER?
  • Because you and your company care for the environment and want to limit environmental liability in terms of current and future legislation.
  • To protect and ensure the long-term sustainability of our scarce and strategically important groundwater resources.
