Environmental management consulting.

Projects include:

  • Compilation of the provincial performance report on sustainability (Agenda 21) for the Western Cape (in progress)
  • Review of the "Lilies for Export Project" a community-based Local Agenda 21 project for the City of Cape Town (in progress).
  • Preparation of an Environmental Management System and involvement in the audit of the operational Environmental Management Plan for the Arabella Country Estate.
  • Development of an Environmental Management System for the Carnival City Casino Complex.
  • Phase 2 of the environmental strategy/action plan for the Swaziland Enterprise Development Company including an audit of all sites, development of a policy and linking environmental performance criteria into the Performance Management System.
  • Preparation of an Environmental Management Plan for the Nampundwe pyrite mine (Zambia) in accordance with World Bank requirements. This management plan forms part of the EMS for the mine.
  • Environmental audit as part of the financial audit for Sea Harvest, a large fishing industry.
  • Part-time contract with the Department of Environmental and Cultural Affairs and Sport (DECAS), Western Cape. Activities include:
    • Facilitation of strategic planning workshop and preparation of a strategic plan;
    • Preparation of guidelines, procedures and policies to support the implementation of the EIA Regulations including:
      • A screening questionnaire, supported by a guideline for use;
      • A guideline on the definition of listed activities which is aimed at clarifying the activities as per the Schedule in the EIA Regulations;
      • A guideline for defining environmentally sensitive environments to support the decision-making process;
      • A policy on the application of the EIA Regulations to structures associated with communication networks
      • A policy on public participation in the EIA process
      • A policy on managing development on mountains, hills and ridges.
