| Mary-Jane studied at Wits University
where she obtained her honours degree in Geography and Environmental
Studies (1985). She has seventeen years experience in the environmental
field, covering research, consulting and industry. As a result, Mary-Jane
has been involved in various aspects of environmental management,
including Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management
Plans, rehabilitation plans, development of environmental policies
and guidelines, Environmental Management Systems, and environmental
auditing. She has undertaken several presentations and has published
papers on these subjects.
One of the most interesting and exciting projects in which Mary-Jane
has been involved was that of managing and co-ordinating the environmental
aspects of the Cape Town 2004 Olympic Bid. Mary-Jane's particular
interest is that of integrating environmental management into business
strategy, business planning and financial accounting and reporting
systems. Due to this interest, she has become increasingly involved
in Corporate Environmental Reporting, Environmental Management Systems
and Environmental Auditing. Mary-Jane has successfully completed
an internationally certified EARA (Environmental Auditor's Registration
Association) Environmental Auditing course.
